Mr. Bullard has represented insurance companies through all phases of litigation in both first- and third-party matters, arising out of personal, professional and commercial lines. The vast majority of his cases have been in the areas of defective construction, construction injuries, products liability, landslide, subsidence and premises liability, both as a defense lawyer and as those areas relate to insurance coverage issues. He has handled the complete range of insurance coverage matters arising out of personal, commercial, and specialty lines and has also litigated in the areas of insurance bad faith and professional malpractice.

Mr. Bullard has audited numerous insurance policies and forms. He has also lectured extensively on insurance coverage and litigation.

Mr. Bullard received his B.A. from the University of Colorado, and his J.D. from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law. Brown, Timothy W.

Born 1951, Oceanside, California; University of Redlands, BA Economics,  minors in Math and Physics, 1973; University of La Verne, J.D. 1992.  Admitted State Bar of California, 1992; Admitted United States District Court, Central District, 1992; Admitted United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, 1992.

During his career, Mr. Brown has emphasized all areas of construction defect litigation and has been able to draw on his valuable experience as an owner/builder of two single-family homes.  In addition to his litigation experience in the fields of personal injury, products liability, construction accidents and wrongful termination cases, Mr. Brown’s experience as a former small business owner and Reserve Deputy for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department San Dimas Mountain Rescue Team brings invaluable insight to Mr. Brown’s handling of contract litigation and in his representation of public entities.  Mr. Brown has earned the esteem of his colleagues and adversaries as an aggressive and vocal advocate for his clients.

Beal, Jeremy E.

Mr. Beal specializes in first-party and third-party insurance coverage matters, complex insurance litigation, and catastrophic injury and property damage litigation.  Mr. Beal provides counsel to insurers nationwide. He is admitted in and actively litigates in State and Federal Courts in California, Nevada, Arizona and Texas.  Mr. Beal has extensive experience representing General Contractors and insurers of General Contractors in all manner of litigation and insurance coverage related matters.  Mr. Beal is a frequent presenter on complex litigation and insurance issues, with an emphasis on Additional Insured and Contractual Indemnity risk transfer.

Mr. Beal represents a wide range of businesses, providing counsel on contractual issues, formation, and litigation on public and private works projects.  Mr. Beal represents several Fortune 500 companies, including Aggregate Industries, Holcim,  and Newmont Mining Company.

Mr. Beal graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA in 1993, and was in the top 15% of his class at Loyola Law School.

Naughton, Patrick E.

Mr. Naughton received his B.S. in Political Science and History from California State University of Fresno and his J.D. Degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. He was the winner of the best brief award in moot court competition.

Mr. Naughton was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1978 and is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, American Bar Association, Orange County Trial Association and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.

Mr. Naughton specializes in civil litigation and third party insurance defense. He also litigated numerous claims involving dental and medical malpractice, professional liability and premise and security guard liability, as well as transportation and mold related cases. Besides having representing cities, counties, schools and water districts, his experience has included litigation of bad faith actions, high profile damage issues and fraud cases. Mr. Naughton has been retained to represent questionable insurance claims as well.

He has argued before the California Court of Appeals on numerous occasions and has an extensive trial background in both state and federal courts.

Mr. Naughton became a partner in Bullard, Brown & Beal in June 2004.

Carollo, David L.

Mr. Carollo specializes in first- and third-party insurance coverage issues, including bad faith claims. Practice in these areas includes knowledge and experience relating to all types of insurance policies, their interpretation and numerous insurance related issues. Mr. Carollo has rendered numerous coverage opinions in all areas including construction defect, environmental, molestation, auto, homeowners, and intellectual property. He also has extensive litigation experience in the areas of insurance bad faith defense, business, real estate and franchisor-franchisee relationships. He has tried several jury trials to completion, and has extensive experience in arbitrations, mediations and depositions.

Mr. Carollo received his B.A., Phi Beta Kappa from Wayne State Univ., Detroit, 1982; and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington D.C. 1985. He was admitted to the State Bar of California, 1986; and to the United States District Court, Central, Southern and Eastern Districts of California, 1986-1988; as well as the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, 1988.

Thomas Wynsma

Mr. Wynsma is an associate in the Litigation Practices Group at Bullard, Brown & Beal.  He has experience in all phases of litigation including trial.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Wynsma specialized in real estate and business ligation where he successfully represented corporations, LLC’s, partnerships, residential and commercial owners associations, as well as individuals. 

 

Mr. Wynsma graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Michigan University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science/Pre-Law and Economics and a minor in Business Administration.  He received his J.D. from Chapman University School of Law in 2013.  While in law school, Mr. Wynsma participated on the Moot Court Honor Board competing in the National Moot Court Competition two years in a row, where his team received a third place award for “best brief,” as well as the Giles Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition. 

 

Mr. Wynsma is admitted to practice in California and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.  He is also a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Beverly Hills Bar Association.

John Roddy

Mr. Roddy specializes in third-party insurance coverage matters, catastrophic injury litigation and complex insurance litigation.  He also represents businesses in contractual issues, formation, and in defense to OSHA citations. 

Mr. Roddy has trial experience and has argued before the Court of Appeals on multiple occasions.

Mr. Graham has specialized in civil litigation and insurance defense law throughout his legal career. He has successfully litigated numerous claims including those related to police and government liability, premises and security guard liability, automobile liability, construction defects, construction accidents, products liability and medical malpractice actions. Additionally, Mr. Graham's experience has included litigation of insurance coverage disputes, insurance bad faith claims and agent and broker liablity matters. Mr. Graham was a sworn peace officer and works now as a part-time ocean lifeguard with a thirty-plus year career with the California State Parks. Finally, Mr. Graham is active in the community through the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Graham received his B.A. in Social Science from the University of California at Irvine; and his J.D. from Western Satate College of Law. He is admitted to the State Bar of California, Hawaii State Bar Association, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Ko, Hae Won

Ms. Ko specializes in complicated issues, as well as civil litigation of third-party insurance defense matters. She handles a complete range of insurance coverage matters arising out of personal, commercial, and specialty lines and has also litigated in the areas of co-carriers’ coverage contribution actions.

Ms. Ko’s experience also includes the defense of various entities, including governmental agencies, in personal injury cases involving automobile accidents, construction zone liability, and/or premises liability actions.

Ms. Ko has extensive experience in drafting substantive motions, including Summary Judgment/Adjudication Motions, which have either prevailed, or resulted in favorable settlements while the motions were taken under submission by the Courts. Ms. Ko has also co-authored multiple appellate briefs, including but not limited to the Respondent Brief in the reported/published case of Jones v. P.S. Development Co., Inc, et al., 166 Cal.App.4th 707 (2008), wherein the appellate court affirmed the trial court’s Summary Judgment in favor of the Respondent/defendant.

Prior to joining Bullard, Brown & Beal in 2005, Ms. Ko litigated and defended workers compensation cases in front of various Worker’s Compensation Appeals Board throughout Southern California. Ms. Ko is fluent in Korean.

Ms. Ko received her B.A. with a double major in Sociology and Mass Communications from the University of California Berkeley in 1999, and was a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, International Sociology Honor Society, 1998 & 1999. She received her J.D. from Loyola Law School – Los Angeles, 2004; Dean’s Honor List 2003-2004; The Mabel Wilson Richards Scholarship 2003 and 2004; LLS Jesuit Community Scholarship, 2003-2004.

She is admitted to the State Bar of California 2004; and United States District Court 2004.

Ms. Pelayo is an associate in the Insurance Coverage and Litigation Practice Group. She has experience in all phases of litigation and has represented private and public entities as well as individuals in insurance litigation matters, including areas such as construction defect, personal injury, breach of contract, and general commercial disputes.  Ms. Pelayo has also prevailed on numerous motions, including Motions for Summary Judgment in Federal Court.

Ms. Pelayo studied at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England as part of a comparative law program.  She received her B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Math from California State University in Los Angeles and her J.D. Degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, Texas.  While in law school, Ms. Pelayo was a student attorney in the Civil Litigation Clinic and represented several individuals in family, probate and business matters.

She is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and admitted to practice in California.
